West Runton and Incleborough Hill for Autumn Migrants
Saturday 26 September 2020
9.30am – 1.00pm
Meet in West Runton Beach Car Park (fee applies) at 9.30am. NR27 9QA OS Explorer Map 252 TG 431167. Toilets are available at the start. This is a 4 mile circular walk. The expected end time will be approximately 1pm
This is a morning walk, looking for autumn migrants on the cliffs and in the hedges around West Runton and inland along the lanes and the scrubby areas and paddocks around Incleborough Hill and the village of West Runton. The exact route will depend on weather and birds on the day. We will spend some time at the beginning and end scanning the beach, and sea for any autumn passage. The hedges around the car park are a good migrant trap in both spring and autumn and there are always plenty of House Sparrows, Gold and other finches, tits and Starlings and Linnets. The cliffs and fields towards East Runton often host gulls while inland the lanes will have passerines and good views of the higher ground to the south will allow us views of raptors, Buzzards and corvids. I plan to finish the walk at the West Runton beach café for coffee or lunch in it is open
Please respect social distancing on the walk. Binoculars are essential to gain full enjoyment from your birding. The leader will carry a telescope on most walks but for personal use only. If you would like to use a telescope during the walk please bring your own along, they can be very useful. Stout footwear is recommended as paths may be slippery or muddy particularly after rain. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Sorry no dogs except guide dogs.
