Bodham, Baconsthorpe and Selbrigg Walk
Saturday 10 November 2018
9:00am to 1:00pm
Meeting Point: We will meet in the car park of The Red Hart, Bodham NR25 6AD OS Explorer Sheet 252 125 400. The pub is on the right hand side about 200 yards after you enter Bodham from the A148. Bodham is just south of the A148 between Sheringham and High Kelling.
Note: It may be muddy underfoot so boots are recommended. After our walk stay on for a drink or pub lunch. Have a look at The Red Hart website for see what they offer www.redhartbodham.co.uk.
Distance: The walk will be about 3.5 miles.
The walk will take in a range of habitats ranging from hedgerows along quiet roads and lanes, woodland, damp grassland and the freshwater ponds at Baconsthorpe Castle and Selbrigg. We will be on the lookout for wintering flocks of tits, finches and thrushes. Overhead we'll look for raptors and the ponds will have some species of wintering duck, swans and maybe water rail. There is also the possibility of otters at Baconsthorpe.
Children are welcome if accompanied by well-behaved adults, but we regret no dogs. To keep the club's carbon footprint small, please consider car sharing. The walk will be led by Janice Darch.
