This is a special mid-week walk, visiting an out-post of the Felbrigg estate - Sustead Common. The plan is to meet at Sexton's Lodge car park, off Lion's Mouth, NR11 8PS, as usual and then walk to Sustead Common via the lake and through Common Plantation to join the lane to Sustead. The Common, which is under the management of Felbeck Trust, has recently undergone a programme of habitat restoration, including creation of a winter scrape and construction of a bird hide. Over fifty species have been recorded at this site in the past year. The walk will include access to Spurrell's Wood - which is not usually open to the public. This walk is a bit longer than usual, 3 - 4 miles in total, and we aim to be back at the car-park by 12.00. To keep the club's carbon footprint small, please consider car sharing. As usual, children are welcome if accompanied by well-behaved adults, but we regret no dogs.
