Sustead Common

Image of Sustead Common birding site

This site is owned by the National Trust/NNDC and managed for wildlife by Felbeck Trust. It is part of the larger former Common, which was split up after the parish relinquished title in 1973. Though small, the site provides a wildlife oasis in an otherwise intensively farmed area. The Gur Beck, a tributary of the River Bure, flows through it. The two sides are joined by a bridge across the beck and a 'permissive path' provides access through the whole area.
