Sheringham Cemetery

Image of Sheringham Cemetery birding site

Located at the west end of town on the south side of the A149, this location is centred on the cemetery and includes the adjoining land. Between the cemetery and the A149 are the new allotments. The approach road to the cemetery is lined with established trees, which often hold crests and other migrants during autumn, and immediately to the east of the approach road is the site of the old allotments now planted up as a set a side that attracts flocks of finches. The cemetery itself is well maintained but has plenty of trees and shrubs to provide cover and even when busy is large enough for disturbance to be minimal. To the east the recreation ground often holds several species of gull, especially early morning when Mediterranean can be found. The open grassland to the west leads down to Lowe's Farm, while the wood to the south west holds a well established rookery. Habitats: gardens, grassland, hedgerows, scrub & woodland.
