Selbrigg Pond (Lower Bodham)

Image of Selbrigg Pond (Lower Bodham) birding site

Situated on a minor road between High Kelling and Hempstead, this pond and its source feed into the River Glaven. Parking is very limited, especially during the fishing season. Swans, geese, duck, Coot and Moorhen are the typical wildfowl found but Goosander and even Smew have been recorded. The dam and outlet often have Grey Wagtail, Redpoll and Siskin often form large flocks here during the winter, feeding on the Alder. Tawny Owl and Buzzard are plentiful in the woods surrounding the lake. Well worth a stop if you are in the area.
