Field Dalling & Saxlingham

Image of Field Dalling & Saxlingham birding site

Field Dalling is an elevated village about 4 miles inland from Morston on the northern edge of the western arm of the clubs area, linked to the Hamlet of Saxlingham about a mile to the east by a minor road. The area is mainly farmland but there are some interesting wet meadows to the west of Field Dalling church and a reservoir, sadly not fully visible from the footpath. This attracts geese, swans and duck but is shot in the winter months. On the south side of the village are two deep pools and a stand of mature trees.\r\nJust north of Saxlingham is a valley of rough grazing with a beck, which floods during the winter, most farmland birds can be found here.
